POSITION SUMMARY:

Pacific Shipyards International, Inc. located in Honolulu, Hawaii is searching for a Production Manager for its ship repair and industrial fabrication divisions.  The ideal candidate is a dynamic leader in the field monitoring job progress, works closely with superintendents, is a hands-on problem solver able to manage multiple projects simultaneously, and keeps the Production team on track to meet and exceed established deadlines.  The Production Manager reports directly to the Chief Executive Officer and is expected to demonstrate cross-divisional collaboration and alignment.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Coordinate production work flow among crafts to increase efficiency, eliminate redundancy and rework.
  • Manage the Production Department in all phases of project performance and personnel related matters
  • Schedules equipment, confirms material supply and demands, and prepares work orders or purchase requests for the production or purchase of components or parts.
  • Advises and communicates to management the status of work in progress, material availability, and potential production problems to ensure that personnel, equipment, materials and services are provided as needed.
  • Develops subordinates.
  • Identify tools and equipment which improve productivity and quality.
  • Identify skill requirements to meet current and future needs of the business.
  • Supports and drives long-range strategic planning process to ensure accurate labor forecasting.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

DESCRIPTION OF WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Shipyard environments will vary making it necessary to tolerate weather conditions, such as heat, rain, and extreme temperature differences from inside to outside. Employees may be exposed to dust, dirt, varying temperatures, loud noises, fumes, etc.

QUALIFICATION/REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must show proof of your legal right to work in the United States
  • This position requires US Citizenship due to clearance required for base access
  • Must be able to successfully obtain a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC)
  • Must be able to successfully obtain a Defense Biometric Identification System (DBIDS) Credential to gain access to federally controlled work sites
  • All candidates must submit to and pass a post-offer drug screening and a background check before employment begins. Failure to complete any of these steps will result in disqualification
  • Valid State of Hawaii drivers’ license in good standing, class 3 or higher
  • Candidates must have access to reliable transportation to get to work and other job sites on time for the start of shift
