We are currently seeking a Project Scheduler for our Ship Repair division.

Our Shipyard History: Founded in 1916 by D. R. Dunlap, our Gulf Coast shipyard first began as the Alabama Dry Dock and Shipbuilding Company. It was one of the original nine emergency yards funded by the U.S. Maritime Commission during WWII, becoming one of the largest employers in Southern Alabama while producing Liberty Ships and T-2 Tankers for the war effort. Over the years the shipyard has employed thousands of people, notably including Jimmy Buffet, his dad JD Buffet and Hank Williams Senior. Now called Alabama Shipyard, our fully-equipped facility is a fundamental part of Mobile's history. Essential job duties include:

  • Update and maintain project schedules.
  • Implement and integrate cost and schedule project control data functions.
  • Provide tracking of major program milestones.
  • Engage with project managers to provide quality control of the schedule and coordinate the conjunctive or dependent activities.
  • Provide written recommendations, develop and implement solutions, and document written changes to project plans and recovery options.
  • Analyze and resolve schedule conflicts, including resource over-allocation, excessive positive or negative total float, improper logic, excessive open ends, logic loops, and incorrect application of constraints. Employs appropriate tools to resolve schedule conflicts including the use of schedule statistics reports and resource-leveling.
  • Develop and track schedule-related action items and engage with individual action owners until the action item is closed with appropriate resolution.


  • Bachelor's degree in a related field or high school education supplemented by course work or technical training in a project controls related field.
  • Minimum of five years of experience with Primavera scheduling tools in a heavy manufacturing environment.


To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to satisfactorily demonstrate the following:

  • In-depth knowledge of the standards and best practices of scheduling.
  • Working knowledge of production planning and the detailed incorporation of an integrated project plan.
  • Ability to enter, maintain and generate accurate data and reports.
  • Ability to read engineered drawings, specifications, and blueprints as well as the ability to translate that information into an acceptable and interpretable schedule format.
  • Ability to maintain effective working relationships with and through multiple departments and individuals at all levels.
  • Considerable knowledge of the creation and use of Build Strategies, Master Schedules, Work Breakdown Structures, Material Requirements Planning, Product Modeling, Work Order Creation, Budgeting, Resources Loading, and Detailed Scheduling.
