Control Union USA is presently seeking experienced maritime professionals for available Port Manager positions in our US offices

Purpose of function (summary of most important aspects of function)

-                     Execution of Cargo Surveys

-                     Execution of Draught Surveys

-                     Superintending Liquid cargoes

-                     Superintending Bulk, Breakbulk, and Containerized cargoes

-                     Sampling Bulk Cargoes

-                     Execution of Container Inspections

-                     Execution of Bunker Surveys


Description of function (detailed description of tasks and responsibilities of the function

-                     Liaison with personnel of CU offices/surveyors/subcontractor / vessel agents / terminals for execution of orders

-                     Execution of cargo surveys & issue of reports

-                     Handling and recording of samples

-                     Check and verify documentation received from CU offices/field surveyors/subcontractors for accuracy

-                     Email /mail/courier necessary documentation/samples

-                     Schedule personnel to ensure various jobs are staffed properly

-                     Handle customer feedback and issues

-                     Implementation of revised or new standards in the organization and manuals

-                     Track and approve employee hours and expenses

-                     Conducting training and general meetings

-                     Responsible for the hiring of employees and writing up disciplinary forms when necessary

-                     Coordinating and booking travel arrangements

-                     Liaison with other port managers to efficiently utilize labor

-                     Identifying training needs

-                     Monitoring and training of field personnel

-                     Purchasing and maintenance of equipment

-                     Maintain port, office, and employee inventory


Competency (summary of competencies)

-                     proficient in MSWord, MSOffice Excel, faxing, scanning, email functions

-                     working knowledge of shipboard terminology

-                     proficient in math

-                     good communication and organizational skills


Level of training (summary of school/training)

-                     Minimum - High school diploma

-                     Preferred - Marine background

-                     On the job training to be initiated by CU Group Training Specialist
