Electro-Technical Officer(ETO)

  • Valid Electro-Technical Officer (ETO) Certificate of Competency (COC) and medical certificates (MLC and STCW) - III/6 (or equivalent).
  • Proven Experience with CAT Engine, ELE system & CAT M/E & S & AUX/Engs:
  • Minimum 2-3 years of experience as an ETO or similar role on commercial vessels.
  • Must adapt to read the manuals, diagrams/symbols.
  • Proven track record of maintaining and troubleshooting electrical and electronic systems, including AVR, MPAC, and generator control systems on board vessels.
  • Strong understanding of electrical and electronic engineering principles, including AC/DC theory, power distribution, and electronics fundamentals.
  • In-depth knowledge of maritime electronic navigation and communication systems (ECDIS, RADAR, radios, Navtex, etc.).
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Good physical fitness and stamina to handle the demands of a seafaring job.


  • Electrical: Maintain, troubleshoot, and repair all electrical equipment and systems onboard, including generators, switchboards, distribution panels, AVR (Automatic Voltage Regulator) systems, MPAC (Motor Power Automation Control) systems, and alternators.
  • Electronics: Ensure the proper functioning and calibration of all electronic navigation systems (ECDIS, RADAR, etc.), communication equipment (radios, GPS, Navtex (Navigational Telex)), and other electronic devices.
  • Safety: Prioritize safety by adhering to all electrical safety regulations, conducting safety checks, and ensuring the safe operation of all electrical and electronic systems.
  • Problem-Solving: Diagnose and troubleshoot electrical and electronic malfunctions efficiently, minimizing downtime and ensuring smooth operation.
  • Communication: Communicate effectively with the captain, engineers, and crew regarding any electrical or electronic issues.
  • Record Keeper: Maintain accurate logs and documentation of all maintenance, repairs, and inspections performed on electrical and electronic equipment.
