Takula Field, GS-Mike Platform, Angola Business Unit, Cabinda, Angola

• Assigned to Takula’s GS Mike Platform as a PIC (Person in Charge) over 70 contractors and operation personnel during the structure upgrade because piping restrictions was reducing production. The upgrade increased fluid production by 5,000 barrels per day.

• Oversaw that the work was done according to Chevron’s SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures) and Chevron’s Safe Practices Manual as well as installing new equipment according to Chevron’s SID (Safety in Design). We were operating in a SIMOP mode (Production and Construction). Production is 80,000 BOPD and 100+ MMCFPD.

• The upgrade included the following.

Installation of a Flare Scrubber and associated piping.

Modification of 3 Production Separators, changing inlet nozzles from 12” to 16”, adding

Instrument nozzles and relief valves and tying into a new flare system.

Addition of 200 horsepower crude oil charge pump.

Addition of Sump system and associated piping.

Adding PLC Control on all equipment on platform

Chevron

Senior Start-up Operator/PIC 1999–2000

KWIP–Water flood, Gas Injection and Production Platform, Angola Business Unit, Cabinda, Angola

Involved with the installation, commissioning and start up of KWIP platform. The platform has Water flood (400,000 BWPD at 2,060 PSIG injection discharge), Gas Compression (120 MMSCFD) and Production (50,000 BOPD).

Oversaw daily operation of production and water-flood in accordance with established procedures and practices, including instructing and training of Angolan nationals in all phases of operations and the Moore DCS control system. I used a high degree of communication skills based on language barriers and the remedial educational levels of the Angolan employees. I worked with the Daewoo Construction Company to insure a safe working relationship between operations and construction personnel during the installation and start-up of this platform.

Chevron

Senior Start-up Operator; Area B &C 1998–1999

South Nemba and Lomba Oil production and Gas injection platforms, Angola Business Unit, Cabinda, Angola

Involved with the installation, commissioning and start up of both platforms. I worked with a drilling rig on each platform. The operating system was Allen Bradley Wonderware. I operated and produced 70,000 bpd of oil and injected 130mmcf of gas at 5,000 PSI. Some of the equipment included Seawater lift pumps for the shell/tube oil coolers, C’Treat water makers, 900hp shipping pumps, Mars and Taurus 60 Solar gas compressors, Taurus 60 generators, a glycol gas dehydration system, and pigging. I was responsible for the platforms’ operating under Simultaneous Operations Guidelines (SIMOP) while drilling was going on. I was also responsible for the daily operation of production in accordance with established procedures and practices. My duties included instructing and training of Angolan nationals in all phases of operations.

Supervised many platform and well jacket up-grades; including GS-Lima, GS-Papa, GS-November, GIP-FOX. On the GS-Lima revamp;

• Installed a new control room, shutdown valves on all incoming pipelines.

• Changed out all fire water lines on platform.

• Installed a new pneumatic control system and changed out all the instrument airlines.

• Overhauled all three Waukesha generators.

• De-bottled necking of oil lines which increased oil production by 5,000 bpd.

This job was completed while the platform was maintained 60,000 BOPD production.

On the GS-November project we installed: solar centaur and Taurus compressor. Shell/tube coolers, sea water lift pumps, closed water cooling system, 20’ X 40’ deck extension, glycol packs to dry 50 MMCFD. Recommend and wrote procedures for heavy lifts (18 ton). This work was managed while 60-70 contract and company personnel were on the platform everyday and the platform was producing 80,000 BPD and 100 MMCFD.

There were a total of fourteen GE Frame 1 Gas Turbine compressors on the three platforms. In the NGL process there was Expander, JT Valve and NGL separation equipment. We separated the propane, butane, C5’s and C6’s. About 6,000 BLS Per day of propane and butane were sent to a SPM to be loaded on a tanker. We put the C5’s and C6’s back into the production stream. The rest was compressed and used for gas lift and injection gas. During this same time I was training National employees in the operation of the platforms.
