Job Description:

The Training Ship Logistics Coordinator is essentially an office administrative position on the vessel. Duties might include filling out or transcribing reports, purchase orders material transfer orders organizing of ships records, handling phone and in-person communications. The candidate must demonstrate computer fluency, strong communication skills and attention to detail. Data entry skills are required.

Description of Duties:

  • Serves as the primary point of contact for all ordered supplies, spares and equipment purchased delivered to or transferred to and from the Training ship
  • Responsible to the Chief Engineer and Chief Mate for all inventory management of consumables and spares on board vessel
  • Clerical and administrative duties that support the operations of the Deck and Engine Department as it relates to training vessel mission readiness, training cruise preparation execution and completion
  • Assistance in the completion of customs documents, arrival and departure information, documentation, and discharges
  • Liaise with various vessel agents during training cruise for services needed and or provided to vessel while in port.
  • Assistance in the determination of random alcohol testing procedures/listings
  • Participation on the Ship's Safety Committee
  • Assist with management and documentation of vessels safety management system
  • Serve as alternate DPA when not on-board vessel in conjunction with Colleges Safety Management system
  • Serve as Deputy Security Officer as per vessels SMS and Security Plan


Required Qualifications:

  • US Passport
  • Transportation Worker Identification Credentials (TWIC)
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Logistics experience 
  • Strong organizational and prioritizing skills including attention to detail
  • Must maintain confidentiality of documents and/or records
  • Excellent interpersonal and problem-solving skills
  • Demonstrated self-discipline and independent working ability

Additional Information:

Classification/Salary Range: The Training Ship Logistics Coordinator is a United University Professions (UUP) calendar year appointment. The anticipated salary range for the position is $60,000 to $65,000 annually, based on qualifications which includes an outstanding benefits package. For additional information, please see the UUP Benefits Summary.

Special Notes: This is a 12-month academic year appointment UUP position. Fair Labor Standard Acts (FLSA) Exempt position, not eligible for the overtime provisions of the FLSA. Internal and external search to occur simultaneously.
