Port Operations and Terminal Lead Supervisor | Foreman

Heads-up: this is an outdoor, all-weather role that includes evenings and weekends during peak season. If that excites you, read on.

Key Responsibilities

  • All vessel and barge loading/unloading functions and activities
  • Operate equipment: loaders, hoppers, conveyors, excavators, dryers, blenders, and more
  • Oversight of preventative maintenance and repair of all equipment
  • Manage all bulk salt operations including:
    • Proper storage and handling
    • Loading/Unloading trucks
    • Raw material bulk feed production
  • Ensure strict compliance with MARSEC and OSHA safety standards
  • Lead daily/weekly meetings for responsible teams; measure results against KPIs and adjust plans
  • Train team members on processes, equipment, and safety standards

Qualifications

  • At least 5 years of leadership experience in port or marine operations preferred
  • Experience with bulk material handling and quality control
  • Strong knowledge of OSHA safety compliance
  • Hands-on experience operating and training equipment such as wheel loader, excavator, Bobcat, conveyors, and telestackers
  • Ability to train, mentor, and lead teams with clear communication
  • Ability to maneuver salt piles, climb ladders, get in and out of machines, and safely board barges
  • Physically capable of outdoor, all-weather work and lifting up to 50 lbs.

Bonus: Heavy equipment certifications, MARSEC/TWIC familiarity, bilingual (English/Spanish)

Key Role Details

Location: On-site in Chicago, IL (Port Facility)

Hours: Alternating shifts amongst the leadership team to ensure coverage.

Flexibility: Evenings, weekends, and overtime required during vessel operations and peak operation times

Type: Full-time

Travel: Minimal
