At least two years of experience as Officer in Charge of Navigation Watch (OICNW) on a vessel of 200 GRT. Experience operating a maritime simulator. Ability to be USCG approved to teach Marine Transportation courses. An Associate's degree or higher or a combination of education and training and 200 GRT license. Preferred: A USCG licensed as 1600T Master or Third Mate Unlimited or higher. Bachelor's degree, teaching experience and towing experience. Salary DOE.

Description
The University of Alaska Southeast-Ketchikan Campus invites applications
for a nine-month tenure track Assistant Professor of Marine
Transportation.  This position is covered by a collective bargaining
agreement. The position requires the successful candidate to work on the
Ketchikan campus. The incumbent will be responsible for teaching one or
more undergraduate courses in a manner consistent with the specific course
content description in marine transportation. Be proactive in developing,
modifying and delivering curriculum for classes, workshops, seminars and
web-based instruction. Have the ability to follow USCG and UAS policies and
procedures in program development and delivery. Provide leadership in the
continued development, implementation and expansion of the UAS Marine
Transportation program. Have the ability to monitor and manage the Marine
Transportation department budget. Operate the UAS ship simulator. Provide
credit, non-credit and professional development training and technical
assistance to maritime industry.
