Watchkeeping Mate

I am looking for work onboard an ocean going vessel as a deck officer.

I spent all of my cadet time, as required by the Nautical program, with Algoma Central Corporation operating in the Great Lakes Region. I have worked on 3 different self unloading bulk carriers as well as 1 gearless bulk carrier. As cadet I learned a wide range of duties such as holding bridge and port watches, cargo work, emergency duties, maneuvering the vessel, safety inspections and deck maintenance, etc. I earned just over a year of sea time working on these vessels and after completing my third term of school, I challenged the oral exam at Transport Canada for my certificate of competency.

I have my high school diploma and currently am working towards my Nautical Sciences diploma at BCIT in Vancouver.
