SAFETY ENGINEER: Manzanillo International Terminal S.A., France Field, Panama. (2000 – 2005)

(The Port of MIT was one of the three most productive in the world during it first 10 years of operations handling an average of 1M cargo containers a year, and the number one in rolling vehicles and heavy project equipment) under the administration of Stevedoring Services of America (SSA). Train Panama’s principle seaport and its personnel, customers, authorities and college students in different safety topics. Periodically perform shore and shipboard safety inspections, as well as on-site safety talks. Performed accident and incident investigations and contributed with statistical data and elaboration of formal reports and recommendations to the top management. Involved in the evaluation and purchasing and stocking of personal protective equipment, tools. Experience in cargo handling, freight containers safe loading. Reinforce and revise the Hazardous Containers Policy reinforcement and revisions. Trained in Hazardous Materials and Incident Entry Team Leader for Hazardous Materials (HAZMAT) spills Contributed to variety of projects, critical to the operations, physical security, industrial safety, emergency preparedness and the habitability of over 750 Panamanian and over 40 SSA International employees and contractors; which includes ISO 9001:2000 certification of the Safety & Claims department (certified as internal auditor), the development of MIT Heavy Equipment Operators Manual (forklift Loaders and Tractors), the Vertical Tandem Lifting of

Freight Containers Policy based on International Labor Organization (ILO) Standard and Personnel Qualification System (PQS) for Terminal’s Stevedores. Attend of the Safety & Environmental Committees as a member.


In charge of maintaining an optimum stock level, establish a point of reorder, inventory optimization for different manufacturers and obsolete stock depuration.


Coordinate of supplies for cargo and passenger vessel crossing the Panama Canal and docking at Containers Terminals and Refinery. Coordinate of the timely vessels supplies as per Master’s request. Elaborate reports from entering to sailing Panama Canal as well as statements of facts of vessels operations at ports.

Experience in container and vessel cargo operations and warehouse operations entire cycle. Effectively present lectures and information to groups in written and oral form as well as training. Synthesize information and developing tactics, procedures and policies under company’s, homeland and international standards for facility safety.


Trainer in several safety and hazmat topics such as Containerization, International Maritime Dangerous Goods Code, Confined Space Entry Supervisor, Bounding and Grounding, Coorect use and basic maintenance of Self Contained Breathing Aparatus. Participated in more than 40 Hazardous Cargo spills as Entry Team Leader.
