1)Name of employer : M/S GREENBAY MARINE PTE LTD

(A local shipyard in S’pore building new vessels)

Designation : Assistant Project Engineer

Supervisor-in-charge : Mr Dennis Yong (Project Manager)

Period : 1989 to 1992

Duties / Responsibilities : To be in overall in charge in building a vessel and reporting to the Project Manager on a weekly basis of the progress of the total project.

To liase with the Owners' Representative, Classification Representative and Contractor to complete the job.

After the building of the vessel all the necessary testing of Main Engine, Generator, Main Switchboard, Pumps, Hull etc. to be carried out.

Prepare the necessary bar charts to report to the Project Manager on a weekly basis.

To prepare all the administration work that is necessary to send to Owners' and Classification.

To conduct sea trial and to verify the speed of the vessel.


Successfully completed 2 tankers of a length of 65 metres for Ocean Tankers. Successfully completed 2 crafts of a length of 25 metres for Brunei Shell. (Aluminium Accommodation)

Successfully completed 1 Ocean Going Tug for a Indonesian Company.

2)Name of employer : M/S SEMBAWANG SHIPYARD LTD

(A Division of Sembawang Corporation S’pore)

Designation : Assistant Project Officer (1992 - 1995)

Supervisor-in-charge : Mr Chaudhury (Commercial Manager) / Mr T.S. Low (Assistant Manager)

Period : 1992 - 1998

Duties / Responsibilities : Study Owners' specification and establish requirement for estimation as well as tender.

Prepare enquiry to supplier and subcontractor for quotation.

Evaluate quotations and negotiate with suppliers / subcontractors on the work scope and price of equipment, materials and sub - contracted jobs.

Prepare cost estimation of the tender based on quotation received and previous experience.

Arrange combination meeting to combine and discuss in detail their estimate and workscope. Prioritize and plan the submission activity according to the target required by the management.

Arrange project kick off meeting and send memo to various department for the inputs as required by the Owners' to be incorporated in the bid submission.

Liase / monitor with other department (e.g. Production, QA/QC, Engineering, etc.) to ensure that all documents required for the submission replied in time.

Arrange vessel inspection / clarification meeting with Owners in local or overseas.

Consolidate and analyze all estimates / cost breakdown to minimize any error.

Present cost summary to management for decision.

Assisting in replying Owners' inquiry regarding project submitted and also arrange negotiation meeting with Owners if required.

Study / establish the requirement for pre-qualification submission and notify all department concern to assist in organizing the submission.

Consolidate all input from various department and arrange to sent out the Pre-Qualification Dossier.


Designation : Commercial Executive / Senior Commercial


Supervisor-in-charge : Mr Tay Lay San (Commercial Manager) / Mr M.S. Maniam (Commercial Manager)

Period : 1998 - 2001

Duties / Responsibilities : Receive specification from clients through Marketing Department, carry out cost estimates and submit the quotation to clients.

Discuss with clients if necessary on the estimates and

upon award of contract to follow up. Attend to clients

need as and when required and follow up with additional jobs.

It is also my responsibility to award the jobs to the sub-contractors. Evaluate the estimates and award the jobs to the reliable and reasonable contractors.

Upon completion of the repair, to prepare bills and

discuss with the client and carry out the bill settlement.

After the bill settlement with the owners, upon receipt of sub-contractors bills to negotiate and settle the invoices.

Briefly, my job involves estimates, sub-contracting,

public relation and billing.

4) Name of employer : HOO HUAT ENGINEERING PTE LTD

Designation : Commercial Manager

Supervisor-in-charge : Mr Hubert Chin (General Manager)

Period : 2002 – Jan 2003

Duties / Responsibilities : To meet up with existing clients and new clients to get more enquiry in turn to get more jobs for the company.

Prepare quotations and discuss with the clients on the

scope of work, pricing structure & contract terms.

Evaluate sub contractors quotations and negotiate with suppliers / subcontractors on the work scope and price of equipment and materials.

Carry out marketing visits within Singapore to promote the service of the company.

Arrange meeting with the Operation Manager advising on the scope of work and the time to carry out the jobs.

Also provide the budget for the operation.

Arrange vessel inspection / clarification meeting with Owners locally.

Prepare invoice and costing breakdown. Upon which negotiate with the clients on the invoice and settle the final amount.

Report the contribution to the General Manager from time to time basis.

5) Name of employer : OCEAN MASTER ENGRG. PTE LTD

Designation : Marketing Executive

Supervisor-in-charge : Mr Alan Naidu (Sales Manager)

Period : Jan 2003 – Mar 2004

Duties / Responsibilities : To follow up with clients on the project has been quoted.

Carry out marketing visit within Singapore and

Malaysia in order to meet more clients for promoting

company’s services and receiving enquiries from clients.

Upon receipt of enquiry from client and quotation done by Commercial Dept, to follow up the project closely and negotiate with the clients for closing the deal.

After closing the deal, explain to the operation manager of the job scope.

Once the awarded job has been completed, to prepare invoice and negotiate with clients for settling the invoice.

Feedback client’s comments on the project concerned to the Managing Director.

Prepare marketing report and submit to the Sales Manager on daily basis.

5)Name of employer : CISERV SINGAPORE PTE LTD

Designation : Sales / Service Engineer

Supervisor-in-charge : Mr Philip Ang (Deputy General Manager)

Period : April 2004 – till date

Duties / Responsibilities : To visit vessel’s in the shipyard’s in Singapore, Malaysia and Batam.

Built repo with the shipyard personnel’s and Owners representative in turn to receive enquiries.

Prepare quotation, follow up and secure the orders.

Arrange production personnel to attend the vessel to

carry out the repair works in accordance with the


Follow up on the additional workdone and finally prepare

the invoice and negotiate with the customer / shipyard.

For those items that are to be reconditioned, discuss with the workshop personnel on the duration prior to commiting to customer.

Follow up with the workshop and prepare for collection

from the vessel / yard and upon completion to return

back to yard / vessel accordingly.

Carry out marketing visit within Singapore and Malaysia in order to meet more clients for promoting company’s services and receiving enquiries from clients.

Feedback client’s comments on the project concerned to the Managing Director.

Update on the system all the vessel visit on daily basis.
