100 Ton Captain Near Coastal

Objective

To obtain a position as a part time or possibly full time Captain.

Experience

08/2004 thru Present Seabulk Towing; A Secor Company

I am the engineer on one of the harbor tugs in Tampa Bay. We do mainly ship assist work. My duties include startup, shut down and running of generators and main engine. Also all maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs for the engine, generators, hydraulics, electronics, and MSD. One of the main responsibilities of my position as engineer is being in charge of all fuel/oil transfer procedures, this includes but is not limited to; taking on bunkers, transferring fuel to other vessels, transferring fuel within vessel, taking on oil, and proper disposal of oily bilge water. Since we have such a small crew I also assist the Captain with operating the Tug and assist the deckhand with line handling. I strongly believe that a Captain is an individual who knows his vessel as well as the systems on the vessel, so because of my engine experience I believe it has made me a better captain.

06/1997 thru 08/2002 Raytheon; Kwajalein, Marshall Islands Marina

I was a boat operator at the Marina on the Island of Kwajalein, located in the Marshall Islands halfway between Hawaii and New Guinea. My duties included operating the twin engine rental boats. This included taking customers fishing, diving, or just cruising to different islands. Or if the customers took the boat out themselves I would make sure it is ready and when they return I would run the boat to the fuel dock to re-fuel. The job also required me to run out and assist customers that had mechanical problems with their boat while underway, sometimes requiring me to tow them back to the dock. I also served as a water-taxi operator taking people out to their private sail boats moored off-shore. I gained a tremendous amount of boat handling experience out on the island.

Between the two time periods I have noted above, I lived in California and attended the Maritime Academy. I have extensive knowledge of marine electronics that I have used over the years of work experience and school.

I grew up in the Marshall Island so I have been on the water and boats my entire life. I very much appreciate your considering me for this position. I would love to have the opportunity to show what a vital asset I can be to your company. Thank You
