Requirements:

  • USCG AcademyDegree or Merchant Mariner
  • 10+ years of experience as a  USCG Vessel Inspector, licensed Merchant Marine Engineering Officer, Chief Engineer, or Facility/Vessel Security Officer; other equivalent experience will be considered
  • Knowledge of / experience with machinery space environmental compliance auditing and MTSA regulations
  • Knowledge of major federal statutes and implementing regulations, including ESA, CWA, CAA, and NHPA
  • Experience with drill and exercise development / facilitation / evaluation preferred 
  • Excellent management, leadership, technical writing, presentation and interpersonal communication skills
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and strategic planning skills with attention to detail and a high quality of work in a pressure environment
  • Ability to elicit cooperation from a wide variety of sources, disciplines, and experts including senior management, clients, and other departments
  • Ability to travel to support business needs

Description

Maritime Specialist – Ecology and Environment, Inc. is seeking a Maritime Specialist for our Pensacola, FL Tallahassee, FL, Baton Rouge, LA, or Houston, TX office.  This position is responsible for managing and supporting a variety of offshore/onshore energy projects, marine safety and security assessments, and coastal restoration projects.  The opportunity is open to USCG officers, senior enlisted or Merchant Mariners with 10+ years of experience with surface operations, shipboard engineering, port security or marine safety. Familiarity and experience with environmental regulations, permitting, and compliance is preferred.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct audits of vessels and waterfront facilities for environmental and/or security compliance 
  • Manage and/or provide technical expertise supporting a variety of offshore and onshore energy projects, including LNG, pipeline, and energy terminals
  • Coordinate and negotiate with Federal and State Agencies as related to preparing impact assessments, permit applications and mitigation plans
  • Investigate/determine causes of pollution incidents and make recommendations for improvement
  • Technical writing of reports and proposals
  • Assist with development, facilitation and evaluation of drills and exercises
  • Meet with project developers and owners/operators, generate leads, assess new markets, and develop new business opportunities
