Objective
I am open to any type of maritime management position that is a good match to my skill set. I have many years of experience in marine operations/marine procurement/chartering/etc. I am also a small business owner and know how to run an organization from "A to Z"
I am willing to relocate overseas as needed.


Work Experience
EXPERIENCE:

KB CONTAINER STORAGE, INC. - 2003 to present
President and Owner
• Full responsibility for all aspects of operating an equipment export company.
• As an owner, I am directly responsible for sales, equipment control, marketing, accounting, procurement, container/chassis repair, operations, HR, etc.

TROPICAL SHIPPING - 1998 to 2003
Corporate Procurement/Materials Manager
• Top company purchasing representative in charge of purchasing and materials management departments and all company-wide procurement/materials management requirements (including 14 vessels). Directed all warehousing and inventory functions.
• Directed company equipment (containers/chassis/gensets) disposal program.
• Responsible for import/export operations pertaining to company material.
• Performed all major bid invitations, analysis, negotiation, and contract awards. Negotiated and awarded contracts up to five million dollars. Annual procurement/inventory spend was approximately 30 million dollars.
• Managed Continuous Improvement and Cost Reduction Programs.
• One of several Functional Leaders for computerized system development and upgrade of purchasing and inventory modules of the PeopleSoft financial system. Upgraded to PeopleSoft version 8.4.

CROWLEY AMERICAN TRANSPORT, INC. - 1997 to 1998
Materials Manager
• Responsible for South Florida and Latin American procurement, inventory, and warehousing needs. Reorganized warehouse and improved export procedures.

DEL MONTE FRESH PRODUCE CO. - 1990 to 1997
Chartering & Marine Services Manager - 1996 to 1997
• Negotiated all charter parties and chartering activities for Del Monte's worldwide fleet of 26 chartered vessels. In charge of all fuel procurement.
Terminal Operations Manager - 1994 to 1995
• Managed all vessel and warehouse operations, refrigerated warehouse storage, terminal/ship liaison, container/breakbulk stevedoring operations, shoreside M&R, regulatory issues, safety, security, and purchasing functions.
Fleet Purchasing Manager - 1990 to 1994
• Managed purchasing staff and all purchasing/inventory activities for the Del Monte fleet of refrigerated ships. Wrote the company purchasing manual and all policies/procedures. Played a leading role in development of electronic requisitioning via satellite (MMS software). Some involvement with ISM code.


STOLT-NIELSEN, INC. - 1986 to 1990
Assistant Purchasing Manager - 1988 to 1990
• Administered and negotiated ship-related contracts, special projects, vessel certification, training, vendor selection and cost comparative studies.
Cargo Claims Adjuster - 1986 to 1988
• Negotiated settlements for cargo, pollution, injury, and U.S. Customs claims.
• Wrote the “Persian Gulf Contingency Plan for the Iran/Iraq War.”

HARRIS MARINE, INC. - 1982 to 1986
Operations Manager/Ship Captain - 1982 to 1986
• Managed, planned, organized and executed contract projects involving joint operations with the U.S. Navy. Commanded ships at sea with responsibility for ship, crew, cargo, and overall project success.

CROWLEY TOWING/U.S. LINES/COLUMBIA UNIVERSITY
Third Mate/Second Mate sailing position out of union halls - 1979 to 1982
• Sailed as a deck officer on tugs, breakbulk, container, and research vessels.

Addition Info
I am very healthy and fit and I participate in 3 to 4 triathlons per year. I have good ethics, a good reputation, and a strong marine background and education.
