Job Description
Port Engineer - Petroleum Services, Seattle, WA
Crowley Maritime is hiring a Port Engineer based in Seattle, Washington to support our Articulated Tug Barge (ATB) and tanker fleet.

Job Overview:
Management position responsible for the repair, maintenance, and oversight of safe engineering practices of U.S. flag petroleum vessels, either ATB's, Tankers, or a combination of vessels assigned primarily to the Gulf of Mexico and East Coast.

This includes:
o Development and monitoring of budgets and schedules, contractor selection and oversight, and contract management.
o Responsibility for compliance with regulatory rules and regulations and liaison to USCG and ABS agencies.
o Management of the vessels' daily maintenance and repair as well as all expenditure controls.
o Complete drydock and project management as well as the development of specifications and bid packages, contract negotiations, and quality assurance.
o Monitor the vessel's maintenance & repair and purchasing modules in the computerized management program and reporting system Nautical Systems 5 Enterprise (NS5).
o Act as liaison to vessel charterer if applicable
o Travel will be required to attend vessels for routine monitoring as well as for repair oversight, project and drydock management.

Required Experience
Minimum 2 years experience in marine engineering and USCG engineer license (can be expired) required. Previous shoreside experience preferred. All Crowley positions require proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Outlook and Word. Must be able to travel approximately 30% of the time. Must be authorized to work in the US. Applicants selected will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.

Required Education
Bachelor's degree in marine engineering or equivalency in engineering related field.

Working Conditions
Works both inside an office environment and also outside in conditions of both high and low temperatures. May be exposed to odors, dust, dirt, mechanical hazards, high noise levels and potentially dangerous equipment. Must be able to crouch and stoop to get into areas with restricted headroom and be able to climb ladders. May require extended use of computer keyboard and viewing of computer monitor and ability to sit for long periods of time.

FLSA Status
The position is Exempt. Requires ability to work long hours to meet required deadlines. Must comply with all work rules, including those that pertain to safety and health.
