Job Description
HMS Global Maritime is respected internationally for providing marine management services. HMS has set the standard for professionalism, business ethics and performance in marine management and consulting services.

We are looking for an experienced technical director for our Consulting and technical division in Seattle, WA. The qualified candidate has ultimate responsibility for oversight of all engineering functions within HMS Consulting and technical and associated services provided to its clients. The technical director shall monitor and direct all internal and project site engineering personnel regarding services provided, to include ongoing repairs and maintenance, monitoring and trend analysis, planning and execution of vessel overhauls and capital projects. As a key member of the Project Support Team, the technical director shall also be responsible for all assigned projects; managing client satisfaction, definition, planning, monitoring and other aspects of the project.



ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS


•Develop and promote engineering management systems throughout HMSGM and its clients.
•Support and maintain consistency among engineering training programs. Ensure all project sites are following standard training protocols.
•Continually evaluate engineering personnel proficiency and provide instructions/guidance for areas of improvement. Encourage and monitor shipboard engineering staff for career advancement.
•Provide guidance and assistance in the vessel overhaul process, to include; project planning, writing of technical specifications, shipyard representation, materials/vendor sourcing.
•Monitor contracted repairs and service work on vessels.
•Assist project site managers to ensure vessels and facilities are in compliance with applicable regulations and all inspections and certificates are current and available for inspection.
•Supervise technical repairs and activities that are crucial to vessel operations.
•Perform quality assurance and technical reviews of repair plans, proposals, system drawings, specifications, etc.
•Manage all aspects of assigned projects throughout the project lifecycle, to include; definition of the scope, the project schedule, budget, project quality, risks and resources.
•Define and manage the project team, consisting of HMS Consulting resources, other HMSGM resources and subcontractors.
•Develop, optimize and disseminate project management tools and protocols for use by team members on future projects.
•Actively participate in business development efforts.
•Participate in educational opportunities and professional organizations.
•Support other project managers when needed
•Develop positive working relationships with HMSGM management and respond to corporate requirements
•Support and promote HMSGM Core Values and objectives
•Perform other duties as assigned



MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS


•Previous marine management experience
•Project management experience
•Excellent written and oral communication skills
•Strong planning and organizational skills
•Attention to detail and quality
•Proficient in CAD, MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Project



CERTIFICATION & EDUCATION


•Bachelor’s degree in marine engineering or related field
•Project Management Professional certification desired



WORKING CONDITIONS


•Mental- Ability to determine safe or unsafe conditions. Process calculations occasionally.
•Use of Senses- Observe for safety. Vision correctible to 20/40. Full color vision, no night blindness full range of all limbs
•Environment- Outside conditions, extreme temperatures. Marine operation subject to varied wake and motion.
•Physical- Ability to carry materials weighing upwards of 75 lbs. to include hoses, garbage, paint and other. Ability to work on scaffold and ladders. Continuous speaking, hearing, seeing, depth perception, and color vision. Frequent standing, walking and sitting. Occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, balancing, stooping, kneeling, reaching and handling, climbing and crawling.
