Job Description
The 120 foot private diesel motor yacht THEA FOSS has a full-time, year-round vacancy for the position of chief engineer.

The THEA FOSS is based on Lake Union in Seattle, Washington and actively cruises eight months of the year. The remaining four months are spent in active maintenance and repair. During the spring and fall, THEA FOSS operates from her dock on Lake Union on cruises varying from several hours to a few days. During the summer, the vessel operates on extended cruises between Puget Sound and Alaska.

This position begins in May, 2013 with trial employment through to the end of September, extended to a permanent year-round position based upon mutual satisfaction. The applicant should live in the Puget Sound region and expect to commute to the vessel during all but the summer season.

THEA FOSS vessel crewmembers are full-time salaried employees of Saltchuk Resources, Inc. The THEA FOSS is a classic, fully restored, steel hulled diesel motor yacht powered by twin Atlas Imperial 275 HP direct reversing engines original to the vessel. She carries 5 crew and 10 over-night guests or up to 25 day-guests and all the systems and equipment to support a vessel of her class and size.
Applicants (USA citizens only)should be trained, professional maritime engineers with an appropriate seagoing license and have a minimum of 10 years of experience as chief engineer and be thoroughly familiar with yacht-grade systems including hydraulic, pneumatic, plumbing and marine sanitation, refrigeration, electrical, mechanical and electronic systems, as well as diesel generators and diesel propulsion. Experience with direct reversible engines is desired but not a requirement.

Additionally, applicants should have up-to-date training in marine firefighting, personal survival techniques and in the use and deployment of liferafts and other safety equipment. Current SOLAS certification is desirable but not a requirement. Medical and advanced first aid training such as Wilderness Responder, EMT, Marine Medical Provider or Medical Person in Charge is highly desirable.
