Job Description:
The Marine Transportation Department at SUNY Maritime College is seeking applicants for the following opening. The Marine Transportation Department is responsible for degree programs leading to a Bachelor of Science and an Unlimited Third Mate's license. Instructors in the department may be required to teach both license subjects and courses relating to vessel and fleet operations. The department is also responsible for the deck training aboard the TS Empire State during summer sea terms.
Requirements:
Lecturer (Junior)
The successful candidate will have at least a second Mate's License, unlimited or Master 1,600 tons
Ocean license and experience onboard US flag commercial vessels
Bachelor of Science Degree from a recognized Maritime College required.
A combination of seagoing and shore side experience may be considered.
STCW certification required.
*Successful applicants will be required to annually participate in a portion of the summer training cruises.*
Additional Information:
This will be a non-tenure track, twelve-month position, The incumbent is required to participate in summer sea term each year. Compensation includes a full benefits package, in accordance with the contract between the State University of New York and the United University Professionals. Salary will commensurate with experience.
