- Must have a minimum DDE Unlimited or higher.
- In charge of maintenance and documentation of three company fast ferries, two foreign flagged over 400 ITC and one US flagged under 100 GRT.
- Supervise directly, 6 USCG licensed Chief Marine Engineers and 4 unlicensed marine engineering employees.
- Interview and hire engineers.
- Track and monitor required credentials for currency, apply to flag state for required endorsements, verify and implement other Flag State, Coast Guard, Class Society and company requirements for Vessel Engineers.
- Maintain and track vessel and company documentation, DOC, SMC, COI, DSC, HSC, and other Class society, Flag State and Coast Guard certificates and documents.
- Supervise FSO (facility security officer) oversee and participate in drills, exercises and inspections as necessary.
- Vessel Maintenance, monitor, tracking, implementation and adjustments. In the past 3 years brought the ‘AMOS’ maintenance tracking system up to an acceptable level for use as a PMS (planed maintenance system) tool. Vessel Dry-docking: In charge of all annual and emergency haul outs including completing repowers, upgrades, yearly PMS items and casualty repairs.
- Investigate Machinery casualties, develop and implement corrective and preventative action and supervise light weight/dead weight surveys and inclining test. (5 year or weight change requirement). Most recent April 2012.
- Fill out and submit 2692 (Report of accident injury or death) as required.
- Respond to Coast Guard Investigators as point of contact regarding machinery casualties.
- Investigate and respond to HSRs (hazardous situation reports) NCRs (non conformity reports)
