Engineer.
We are a Canadian registered vessel, the candidate must have Canadian qualifications.
Vancouver company operating 116 foot SOLAS passenger ship year round in Mexico. This is the perfect job for someone who enjoys being out on the water, travelling to remote ocean islands, snorkelling with giant mantas and dolphins and great white sharks.
Be warned, this is a hard working crew with tremendous esprit de corps. Turnover is very low. You will be expected to work hard and genuinely pull your weight as a team player. You'll have tremendous experiences and make good friends. BUT quarters are tight, typical of a ship of this size. Scheduling is done 6 months out..
1 year contract
4 - 5 weeks on // 4 - 5 weeks off - exact rotation depends on the schedule of the ship
flight credits - competitive pay
start date : winter 2012/2013 : exact date to be confirmed. You will be replacing crew who are going back to school
Must have STCW engineering certificate. Strong engineering skills as well as an interest in helping out with dive operations required. Experience working on small passenger ships or commercial yachts with compressors, watermakers, outboards, etc. The right candidate will naturally take ownership for smooth running, clean and organized machinery spaces and 'buy-in' to the need to comply with ISM paperwork requirements. Job is well suited to someone who really takes pride in their work, is a self-starter and is experienced working with guests, inflatables and skiffs. Relief or full-time on a rotational basis. 2nd or 3rd class engineer preferred, fanatical about details and fiddling with things, keeping everything running. Must be even tempered with a positive attitude and good at interacting with other crew and passengers email and computer literate preferred.
