JOB DESCRIPTION: The Fleet Engineer assists the Engineer Manager with tracking preventative maintenance on a fleet of over 80 tugboats and barges, monitoring major vessel repairs, conversions, and communicating with the Port Engineers at Company facilities in major ports of the east coast, to assist with vessel maintenance.
• Assist in the development, implementation, and maintenance of a computer-based preventative maintenance system.
• Assist with performance of safety management system procedures.
• Provide a technical link between Engineering and I.T. departments.
• Assist with development of repair specification and bid packages.
• Monitor contactors and shipyards during major maintenance and repair projects.
• Assist with on-site surveys of vessels and equipment to determine maintenance and repair needs.
• Position will involve travel to multiple locations.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
• Proficient with computers and ability to use different software programs.
• A High School Diploma or equivalent is required; Bachelor’s degree in Engineering with a USCG license is required.
• Technical understanding of construction and maintenance of marine vessels.
• Familiarity with ABS and USCG rules and regulations.
• Merchant Mariner’s Document and Transportation Worker’s Identification Card.
• Background in Naval Architecture a plus.
• Strong organization, analytical, and problem solving skills
• Background as a Port Engineer or Chief Engineer on various diesel vessels preferred |
