JOB DESCRIPTION: The Fleet Port Captain supervises Tug Fleet operating condition and readiness to perform assigned tasks with respect to customer demand, Port Operational requirements, McAllister QSM System, and regulatory agencies.
- Travel between all McAllister Ports of Operation to examine and record vessel conditions, outfitting and readiness for Customer service.
- Advise and assist local Port Management with respect to vessel maintenance and supply based on regulatory requirements and the QSMS.
- Complete understanding of SIRE inspections, ABS Vessel Audits, USCG-UTV program
- Direct and Educate crewmembers with respect to regulatory compliance under USCG, ABS, DEC, OSHA and AWO.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- College degree in related field.
- Current USCG Master of Towing Vessels license, 1600 GT with Oceans endorsement preferred.
- No less than five years Ocean Towing experience (Tow Wire) and ship assist work.
- Current USCG Merchant Mariner’s Credential.
- Current Transportation Worker’s Identification Card.
- Must possess a wide range of operating knowledge of all the towing services.
- Must have the ability to motivate shipboard and shore side personnel with an emphasis on regulatory agency compliance, McAllister QSMS and vessel habitability.
- Previous experience as Port Captain or shore-based experience.
- Auditor Training a plus
