Carrying out this work are 150 staff spread around the country. While most are based at our head office in Wellington, we also maintain a regional office in each of the 10 major ports, and have dedicated search and rescue and marine pollution response services based in Lower Hutt and Auckland, respectively.
All roles at Maritime New Zealand require the following:
• Sound communication skills both written and oral
• The ability to work with a wide range of people including those with a non-maritime background
• A willingness to apply your experience in a positive manner and contribute to the ongoing development of a safe and effective maritime industry/sector in New Zealand.
Master Mariners - Senior Technical Advisors
These positions will utilise your expertise and skills in commercial marine navigation and leadership to provide technical expertise, in particular to our Certification and Registration team.
You will help build capability and support the development of standard operating procedures, and will have the opportunity to work on major projects.
Chief Engineers - Senior Technical Advisors
These positions will utilise your technical expertise to provide quality advice and support to our Certification and Registration team.
You will help build capability and support the development of standard operating procedures, licensing, rules amendments, syllabus materials and will have the opportunity to work on major projects.
Naval Architects - Senior Technical Advisors
These positions will utilise your technical expertise to provide quality advice and support to our Certification and Registration team. Including work on ship certification, and the MOSS project.
Senior Pacific Maritime Safety Advisor
These positions will utilise your technical expertise to provide quality advice and support to our Certification and Registration team. Including work on ship certification, and the MOSS project.
Roles will require the appropriate qualifications and be legally able to work in New Zealand. Competitive remuneration is offered and relocation assistance may be available for the successful candidates if required.
