|
General Responsibilities:
•The instruction of college-level courses devoted to Auxiliary Machinery, Internal Combustion Engines, Steam Generators, Steam and Gas Turbines, Electrical Machines, Power Distribution, Refrigeration, and accompanying labs
•Teaching and advising in a four-year college setting
•Professional membership in the MSCA
Qualifications and Requirements:
•Tenure-track appointment at the Instructor level requires:
-USCG Third or Second Engineer’s license (unlimited horsepower) with current STCW endorsements and a
Master of Science degree in Electrical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering or Marine Engineering
•Tenure-track appointment at the Assistant Professor level or above requires:
-USCG First or Chief Engineer’s license (unlimited horsepower) with current STCW endorsements and a
Master of Science degree in Electrical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering or Marine Engineering
•Significant teaching experience and/or relevant professional work experience
•Excellent oral and written communications skills
•Proficient computer skills
•Demonstrated ability to fulfill the evaluation criteria of college level teaching and advising
•Understanding and dedication to the Academy’s unique mission
•Faculty hired under Maritime qualifications will require Blue-Gold Sea Term participation (annual training cruise) on alternating years (all maritime safety personnel are subject to random drug testing)
Preferred Qualifications:
•Any additional licenses or certifications related to marine, facilities, or energy systems engineering
•State Professional Engineer (PE) license
Desired Assets:
•Experienced with assessment of student learning
•Varsity athletic coaching experience at the college level
Salary: Commensurate with experience and subject to the MSCA collective bargaining agreement plan.
