PRODUCTION MANAGER
Manager responsible for successful fulfillment of all new construction and repair contracts, including the safe and effective completion of all projects and programs on time, within budget, and in a high quality manner.
As a senior member of the shipyard staff, the Shipyard Production Manager (“SPM”) plays a vital role in the success of the shipyard. The NCM will use his experience and expertise in the shipyard industry to identify and resolve any potential problems or concerns during vessel repair and new construction projects. He will oversee project personnel to mitigate and manage problems and risks found during projects.
The SPM is the senior manager responsible for all facets of production oversight, including planning, scheduling, manpower loading and control, development of estimates, progress monitoring and tracking, and budget adherence for all projects, including government & commercial contracts, and such other projects as assigned.
The SPM will assess, modify, and create new shipyard administrative functions involving engineering, estimating, scheduling, logistics, engineering, safety, subcontractors, purchasing, material controls, interpretation of drawings and specs, change orders and more – ensuring that projects are safely and successfully completed in accordance with contract specifications, on time and within budget.
Additional responsibilities include multiple and varied fabrication, production, and shipyard or engineering-related assignments, as directed. Assignments may require travel or supervision of work aboard tugs or other vessels, however the position is shoreside and based in Cleveland, Ohio.
The SPM is directly responsible for establishing new construction processes and procedures, and determining best methods that will produce the most cost effective results, without compromising quality.
Other duties include monitoring and overseeing progress, ensuring work complies with specification and client requirements, and that every detail of the shipyard’s construction and repair programs, including welding, machinery installation, electrical, auxiliary systems, outfitting, commissioning, sea trials and delivery of any assigned vessels is safely completed in a very high quality manner within the delivery time required and within budget.
SPM must have a working knowledge of ABS Rules, work with ABS, Lloyds, DNV, BV and others as required to meet all quality and regulatory requirements.
Proficient use of Microsoft Office software is required in addition to utilization of the Company’s job cost and purchasing software system after completion of training provided either in-house or by the Company’s software vendor if needed.
