Job Description
Veolia ES is currently seeking an experienced Vessel Manager to be officed in either Houston, Texas or New Orleans, LA. Under the general direction of the General Manager, the Vessel Manager is to manage, maintain, and direct the daily operations of our Regulated Vessel Assets (RVA).

Drawing upon experience in the marine industry, this person will coordinate and maintain the operability of regulated vessel assets within our field operations groups. The aim will be achieved through: 1) direct communications and coordination with vessel owners of leased (short and long-term) RVAs, 2) write specifications, complete budgets, and develop schedules for regulatory controlled maintenance events (dry dock, inspections, class requirements), 3) direct and audit Preventative Maintenance (PM) programs on all RVAs, 4) negotiate and secure RVA specific parts, inventory items, and materials from direct vendors and vessel owners purchasing groups, 5) track maintenance trends and anticipate potential problems based on trend analysis, 6) monitor RVA specific regulatory changes (USCG, BOEM, EPA, OPA, etc…) that effect our operations, and implement changes as necessary, 7) monitor, inform, and maintain severe weather procedures and protocols, 8) provide data and input for internal groups to secure insurance, complete tendering estimates, and manage regulatory requirements, 9) actively participate in initiatives to provide our local employees and all their subcontractors a safe work environment, 10) develop policies/procedures to enable Veolia to achieve regulatory/class/association (OSHA, IMCA, ABS, DnV, ADCI, etc…) and safety management system (ISO, other) compliance, 11) Work within complex environment of VES-SS with its different business units and balance the occasionally conflicting needs of operations, finance, and the upper management groups.

Essential duties and responsibilities
? Provide direction and experience to the operations group in order to allow the efficient and safe operation of RVAs.
? Maintain accurate records and current certifications relevant to the operation of RVAs for VES-SS.
? Endure accurate material requisitions are produced, and timely delivery of materials to the vessels is realized.
? Establish key performance indicators, and conduct regular reviews of the various RVA related programs managed to ensure success.
? Facilitate regular communication between all stakeholders; including (but not limited to) project management, sales, estimating, contracts, purchasing, finance, vessel owners, suppliers/subcontractors, and upper management.

Other duties as assigned.

Controls exercised
Authority will be given to initiate protocols/procedures pertinent to RVA operations in emergency situations. Purchasing limits will be established for typical expenditures.

Required licenses, certificates, etc
Minimum of 10 years experience as a Vessel Manager, Port Captain, Vessel Captain, and/or Chief Engineer. Experience in dealing with DP2/3 vessels, as well as smaller inland fleet operations. Possess a broad network of resources/contacts within the industry to draw upon for support.
