We are now recruiting a Senior Commodity Buyer to join the Technical Purchasing team at our corporate offices in Santa Clarita, CA (just north of Los Angeles).


Responsibilities

This position is responsible for the electrical/ propulsion commodity within the Strategic Sourcing group. The Senior Commodity Buyer will establish long-term agreements with strategic suppliers; provide material project management services to internal clients; lead strategic sourcing initiatives and procure high value/ high risk capital equipment. Other duties will include, but are not limited to:

Manage contract bidding and negotiation process. Analyze results and present proposals for management approval.

Forecast commodity requirements, analyze data to determine contract specifications, select vendors for RFQ's, evaluate bids, negotiate agreements, monitor and administer agreements.

Research, negotiate and procure key commodity items within established budgets and guidelines; develop procurement strategies.

Monitor, track and analyze key global markets and commodities; provide analysis, reports and forecasts.

Forecast company requirements, assess markets and determine procurement methods.

Responsible for supplier evaluations and supply chain management.

Responsible for inventory maintenance; track commodity usage and prepare forecasts.

Analyze and prepare reports.

Provide departmental training. Respond to escalated purchasing issues.


Requirements

Bachelor's degree or equivalent. CPM and/or CPCM certification preferred; MBA a plus.

Minimum of ten years related experience in purchasing with progressively responsible assignments including commodities purchasing, professional services and construction contracting. Prior strategic sourcing experience desired.

Expert level contracting skills.

High level negotiation experience.

Ability to handle multiple priorities, meet deadlines and work under pressure, while maintaining attention to detail and accuracy.

Ability to work in a team or group environment.

Strong communication skills.

High work ethic.

Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office applications, with working knowledge of computerized purchasing systems.

Ability to travel approx 10% (Domestic and International).


Benefits

This position is in a department that has adopted a 9/80 alternative workweek schedule. Therefore, you will have the opportunity to work a schedule that provides you with one day off every two weeks. During each two-week pay period, employees in this department typically work four nine-hour days plus one weekday off, and four nine-hour days and one eight-hour day.
