Job title
Senior Safety Service Technician
Purpose
To have on the scene command for executing service work, and to ensure at all times that safety, reliability and technical excellence are the key drivers supporting WSS Safety Service Concept.
Formal authorities
Has the authority to act within this Functional Description and within the chart of authority as outlined in the company’s Global Integrated Management System (GIMS).
Main Responsibilities
Essential Functions
• Overall responsible for all safety service activities during execution of service jobs
• Responsible for maintaining WSS quality standards, and Safety Service Concept routines according to corporate objectives when executing service work
• Responsible that all service work is carried out according to WSS safety standards, WSS safety guidelines when working onboard, WSS safety guidelines when working in the workshop and other relevant safety standards valid at place of work
• Responsible for continuous updating on technical developments and on applicable regulations and appropriate flag/class requirements
• Responsible for supervision of own personnel as well as sub-contractors involved in the service work
• Responsible for communicating technical deficiencies or improvement notices, and assisting Local Management with follow up, and corrective actions as necessary
• Responsible for on the job training of service personnel in his team
• Authorized to control service reports and documentation according to the companies laid down standards (See “References, Internal)
• Marine field inspection/service of fire ext., suppression & Detection, life saving equipment and
personal protective equipment, etc. Foreign & Domestic (Min. 5 years experience)
Accountabilities
• This position will be measured against:
• Service and quality targets as specified by the Service Manager
• Spares/Sales ratio targets as specified by the Service Manager
Qualifications
Mandatory requirements
• Technical and/or marine background
• Minimum 3 years experience in related business
• TWIC Card required
• Familiar with the main PC applications used within the organization
• Good command of written and spoken English and local language
• Ability to work on own initiative and interact well with others
• Ability to work independently as well as in a team
• Responsible, accurate and safety oriented
• Extensive knowledge of ships technical operation and the international marine market
• Ability to manage and motivate own and externally employed service personnel
• Ability to co-operate across organization lines internally and towards customers
• Good physical condition
Additional preferences
• Fire and Safety Equipment Maintenance knowledge/experience
• Maritime experience
