Job Description
Provide technical direction and manage craft structural resources in the modernization, repair, and customizations of Navy and Commercial vessels. Oversee and monitor schedule performance including review of ongoing and upcoming projects; investigating late activities; and assisting project supervision in findings and solutions. Monitor and evaluate project budget performance, which includes reviewing ongoing and upcoming projects; developing more production work methods and investigation of over budget items. Oversee shift turnover, which includes monitoring of work turned over to backshifts, both amount and type of work assigned, and quality and quantity of work accomplished. Oversee Structural Craft supervision that has been assigned to the planning process to ensure preparation for new work, which includes estimating, project procedure planning, ship checking, reviewing specifications and developing manning plans. Participate in the development of schedule planning and budget during the pre-planning phase. Perform personnel activities including the hiring and supervision of journeymen; force reductions promotions and demotions. Train and motivate employees in the areas of technical knowledge, safety and communication. Ensure that Company policies are adhered to and that policies are clearly understood by subordinates. Utilize the material supply and control system in order to support current and future project production efforts. Ensure that inter-department relations are maintained in a cooperative manner. Ensure that new technical methodologies are investigated in order to improve the Company’s capability and productivity.
Must Have a minimum of 8 years in a Ship Yard, Naval Repair Depot, or some kind of ship building industry experience
Must Have knowledge of structural disciplines to include: Welding, Pipe Welding, Shipfitters, Sheetmetal etc...
Education typically equivalent to a formal apprenticeship program with or an equivalent combination of education and experience. |
