The GBS Group has an immediate opening for an experienced Marine Engineer who can support our work within the defense industry. Candidates will work with our customers to support lifecycle management projects for modernization, overhaul, and repair of defense ship programs.
Skills Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in Marine Engineering or related field, with a minimum of 3 years experience. Candidate must have knowledge of ship and marine engineering systems, including mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and power generation systems.
- Candidate will be responsible for assisting customers in troubleshooting, responding to deficiency reports, inspections and surveys to Navy, USCG and/or ABS requirements; development of maintenance and repair specifications, preparing cost and time estimates; and performing project management in planning and overseeing the ship’s repair availability aboard Department of Defense vessels.
- Candidate will take input from various sources such Voyage Repair Requests, Casualty Reports, regulatory body requirements, inspections, condition reports, alteration requests, preventative and condition monitoring systems and other areas and integrates them into short and long term plans and schedules to ensure ship material readiness. Candidate will assist customer response to Fleet-submitted deficiency reports, and utilize USCG, ABS, MARPOL, SOLAS and/or US Navy regulations and specifications as a basis for response.
- Candidates must be proficient in using AutoCAD to develop drawings for new construction, modernization, overhaul and repair of ships.
- Candidates must have the ability to work independently and be able to communicate effectively with team engineers and customers to identify and solve problems as related to ship systems design and equipment.
- Candidates must have strong analytical skills, demonstrated problem-solving capability, and an interest and aptitude for electronic systems.
- Hold USCG Third Engineers license or higher preferable
- Experience with USCG, ABS, MARPOL and SOLAS regulations and working on or aboard US Navy or US Army vessels and familiarity/experience with Navy General Specifications for Overhaul preferable
