SUMMARY
Responsible for application engineering and project management of both small and large scale marine propulsion/power generation, on-site power generation systems, industrial engine, and engine controls projects.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
May be required to perform additional or different duties from those listed below based on business needs and changes in the industry:
• Application engineering duties.
• Prepare and interpret schematics, drawings, layouts and other visual aids.
• Prepare technical specifications and installation instructions.
• Perform application engineering duties in the marine propulsion and marine/industrial power generation markets.
• Direct shop/engine upfit department to perform customization of factory received engines/generator sets.
• Determine and procure necessary parts for shop for engine customization described above.
• Manage project issues and schedules.
• Participate in project meetings with clients from marine, industrial, and power generation businesses.
• Contribute as a team member to the overall success of the client’s project.
• Other duties as assigned.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES
• Provide technical presentations to customers and staff, both verbally and in writing.
• Function as company representative on engineering projects.
• Participate in on-the-job training.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS
• B.S. degree in Engineering and up to 5 years of experience. Other related technical degrees or extensive industry experience candidates will also be considered.
• Work requires solid math and engineering skills, special relationship abilities, and the ability to understand standard principles behind math and physics. Working knowledge of CAD and related design software as well as all standard PC office software.
• Should possess good communication and presentation skills.
• Work requires occasional travel to meetings, site visits, and field installations. This requires the possession of a valid state driver’s.
• Work requires willingness to occasionally work a flexible schedule and locations.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Working conditions are primarily an office environment with daily interaction with the internal engine upfit shop as well as occasional travel to the field to oversee installations, perform commissioning, and final testing. Most (not all) travel is local and regional. Work may require evening and weekend work when necessary.
