Position: Full time, tenure-track Professional Maritime Engineering
Faculty position

Supervision Received: Vice President of Academic Affairs and Engineering Department Chair
Supervision Exercised: Subordinate professional, classified, and student personnel in areas of responsibility
General Responsibilities:
• Ability to teach an academic course load of 12 credits per semester in a variety of subjects such as: Auxiliary Machinery, Internal Combustion Engines, Steam Generators, Steam Turbines, Refrigeration, Commercial Boilers, and accompanying labs
• Position requires Blue and Gold Sea Term participation (annual training cruise) on alternating years
Qualifications and Requirements:
• Tenure-track appointment at Instructor level requires a Bachelor’s degree, USCG Second Assistant Engineer’s license (unlimited horsepower) with current STCW documentation, and teaching experience and/or recent professional service in the maritime industry
• Tenure-track appointment at Assistant Professor level requires a Master’s degree, USCG First Assistant Engineer’s license (unlimited horsepower) with current STCW documentation, and significant teaching experience and/or recent professional service in the maritime industry
• Tenure-track appointment at Associate Professor level requires a Master’s degree, USCG Chief Engineer’s license (unlimited horsepower) with current STCW documentation, and experience teaching at the college level and/or recent professional service in the maritime industry
• Excellent oral and written communications skills
• Proficient computer skills
• Demonstrated ability to fulfill the applicable evaluation criteria of teaching and advising
• Understanding and dedication to the Academy’s unique mission
Preferred Qualifications:
• Master of Science in an Engineering discipline
• MA Stationary Engineering license; 2nd class or above
• State PE license
