In this position you will be primarily responsible for all aspects and needs of sea-going vessels while in port during loading/discharging operations in a steamship agency, Nova, residing in the Grain & Oilseed Supply Chain North America (GOSCNA) business unit. As a boarding agent you will be required to perform all necessary tasks on behalf of the owner/charterer to ensure an efficient and economical port call.

Principal Accountabilities:

35% Handle daily vessel operations including scheduling and coordinating of vessel movements, setting up pilots, tugs, launch boats, delivery of stores, and bunkers, lind handling, etc, as needed.

25% Prepare cargo documents (cargo manifest, statement of facts, stow plans, bills of lading, etc.) as well as all required government forms for entering/clearing of vessel, cargo and crew.

25% Attend inspections by various regulatory bodies (USCG, USDA, NCB). File berth applications and notice of readiness. Attend the vessel on arrival and sailing from the terminals.

10% Communicate/update owners, charterers, vessel, port authorities, govt. entities, and terminals concerning vessel schedule, conditions, etc. in a timely manner

5% Perform ad hoc duties, special projects assignments, and personal career development and training activities.

Required:
·High School diploma or equivalent
·A valid drivers license
·Willingness to work irregular hours
·Ability to climb stairs & gangways

Desired:
·1+ years vessel boarding or maritime operations experience
·Proficiency in Microsoft software applications
·Have strong communications skills (verbal & written)
·Bilingual skills - fluency to read, write, and speak another language
